We moved into a townhome near Providence and I-485 this past Summer and only recently needed the central heating to work. Sure enough, nothing.

So I had Piedmont Gas come out, and the guy looked at the heater and confirmed the gas line was fine, but the igniter wasn't working.

I see ads on TV for Brothers and Morris-Jenkins, but that doesn't tell me that their work is good or that their prices are reasonable for the market.

So...

Does anyone have any personal recommendations for a heating repair company to do the work?

I'd definitely recommend Anderson Heating and Air.

I agree w/Jake. Anderson's very, very good, but unless you know someone within the company, they're prob booked solid for at least 2 weeks or so. This is when everyone and their mother is calling the HVAC guy to come out and check their heating system. Also, their rates are prob a little higher also....

We are needing to replace a heat pump/a/c too.

We have had 3 quotes, all VERY high! One was over 22K to replace our 2 heat pumps! YIKES!

Brothers gave us a quote of 15K.

We use McClintock to do all of our HVAC cleaning etc and have been very happy. Had Brothers come once to a cleaning and the recommend all kinds of things to be replaced. Mcclintock disagreed and said it was very old but working like a champ.

Have used Morris-Jenkins several times.
Very very good and professional, but probably the most expensive in town by a long shot.

Tried to charge me $275 for a thermostat recently (after a lightning strike damaged our furnace motherboard among other things) and I told them to remove it, went to Lowes and installed a better one for $29 in about 3 mins.

I highly recommend smaller shops and have used this company several times with great results at a fair price:

Cotes Quality Services
704.281.7432

No connection other than a satisfied customer.
Replaced my two split systems recently (2 x 2 ton ACs + 2 x 90% furnaces all TRANE) at a fraction of the cost of the larger places.
