Sorry if this is a duplicate thread but, I returned recently from out of town and noticed that the old SeaLand/Maersk building is being demolished at SouthPark. What is replacing this structure? Any timeline on construction?

Unfortunately, some of those large 100 year old oak trees are coming down too. Shame!

I hate to see that, I was hoping they could work around the large trees. Will this project be like an extension of Piedmont Town Center? How tall?

All that we know (or that I could find) is there will be two phases. The first including 391 units, the second with 200 units.

They are too old for Charlotte.

I finally found the re zoning from 2010. Looks like the apartments and some office. Only about 15k of retail. The pics looked to be about 8-10 stories so, not much height.

I believe this was the same tract of land that a proposed Super Target was going to be. From this 2011 Biz Journal article.

I wonder if this is still part of the retail aspect of this project?

Doubt it. The company for the apartments aren't the same company as the developers in the article you linked. It would be cool if that plan goes through.

Not the same land. The Super Target idea was for an extension of Barclay Downs south of Fairview.

There was however an old rumor for a Trader Joe's in the old SeaLand spot when the rezoning request was made. Makes sense geographically.
