Even if it's like $35, I'm tired of waiting in nasty waiting rooms of $19.95 places for an hour just to get my oil changed. I'm looking for a place that has a reputation for getting you in and out fast! Any suggestions?

We take our vehicles to Liberty on Independence at the CLT/Matthews line. It's $24 and if you call and get an appointment, they will get you in an out as fast as any so-called expedited service. We've used them on four vehicles for at least three years. Ask for Robert or George - service writers. It's not downtown, but you get excellent service. a very clean facility and comfortable chairs.

Woodie's has a couple locations close to downtown. If you make an appointment, you're in & out VERY quickly. The few times I've dropped by, they were done in less than 30 minutes. They'll let you know if they're too busy. Another option, if you work downtown, you can drop off your car & take the red line trolley to uptown for free. You can catch it like a block away from the location below, on Elizabeth.

Exactly what I was thinking. Never used them but if you're working Uptown anyway who cares how long it takes? Well that's an option anyway. Drop it off perhaps. They do have killer spicy sausage on the one on Tryon. I used to eat lunch there instead of getting an oil change I needed one afterwards.

I don't work uptown, I just live near Uptown, and dropping off a car is not an option because i don't have a ride to get home. I just need a place that gets people in & out FAST, near uptown.

McCarthy Tire has always been quick for me when I scheduled an appointment. They are on 6th Street near Harris Teeter.

Montford Drive(1 block from Park Road Shopping CTR) has a quick lube. I think they changed their oil company affiliation used to go by Havoline. Have used before and basically what one would expect. It's next door to the Moosehead Bar just across from Abbey Place.

Another thing, shoot for a Wednesday or Thursday. Monday is when people are bringing their cars in for trouble found on the weekend and Friday is when people want something checked before hitting the road for the weekend.

Amazingly, I got an oil change, tire rotation, other stuff and a state inspection at a dealer of all places. They shuttled me to lunch and were done before I finished. The place I get my old vehicle serviced is also close to eateries so I kill time that way.

I use the Wed. Thur. rule for everything to do with cars such as driver's license renewal.
