no, but the name is still goes with the team. Personally, i think should change to something like the "blues" that would make a lot of sense, but the beat thing is pretty representative of the city

Obviously the name change doesn't upgrade the talent level but the Hornets name has a huge historical connection and attachment for fans of the original Hornets franchise. Although the novelty will fade if the team continues to play poorly but the additional fans or return of some fans will create needed home energy, this will translate into a few extra W's. Pun intended, a"buzz" if you will like the old days.

I'm glad for the fans in Charlotte that you all will get the Hornets name back. It was a cool name and fit the city well and never really worked in New Orleans. I think team names should always stay in the original location, especially if they have specific ties to the area (Utah Jazz, LA Lakers, and Memphis Grizzlies are all ridiculous names).

I'm pretty dubious that MJ can turn the team into a winner though. I was in DC when he was with the Wizards organization and that was a train wreck. Jordan was a fantastic player, but he just doesn't seem to have much ability as an executive.

MJ has said he is not handling a lot of the decision making process anymore. According to him, he is letting Rod Higgins and Rich Cho run the team. That being said, this team needs to find a head coach who can stay around a while. This one and done needs to go.

yep... you can tell MJ isn't running the team because they actually made a few good moves.

I don't have a problem with firing a coach after 1 year. This isn't college.... you can fire a coach 15 games in and still save a season. They should have fired the coach during that 18 game losing streak.

I really wish MJ and the Bobcats...now Hornets well. I remember the Hornets back in the day (somewhat, being from PA). But, this title change will Not help them play any better. What they need is a better product on the court. I used to have season tickets and stuck with them. But the team sometimes seems to care less. Though, honestly I haven't watched much at all this year. But, people want a good game, Not to strive for the worst record ever in the league each season! I'd rather see the $$ invested in talent.

Hornets made some good moves last year and at least they competed in more games. They were up 20 on a few teams and blew leads in the 4th qtr. A better coach would have squeezed a few more W's last year instead of playing zone and letting the other team jack up 3's.
