When did it go up?

It says "No parking Sept 2-7". Was there ever parking on Independence? Do people really need to be told this?

I remember it since before it was a freeway and I don't ever remember parking on it. It's always been too many cars for too little road.

They have them on 485 and 77. Sometimes people will leave broken down cars on the shoulder for a couple hours or a day and under normal circumstances they wouldn't be towed immediately. I think what the signs are saying is that during the DNC they would be searched and towed immediately.

That's probably just a test or they don't know how to block certain e-signs. There's been one on I 85 in Kings Mountain for at least a year. It does give warnings that sometime don't really apply, but other times it's just weird messages. Chances are that the sign in Kings Mountain says the same, which would really make people laugh. This might be a badly worded message related to something that I posted in one of Ani's threads. I'll try to find it.

Apparently it does apply to Independence Blvd., as well as i-85 I-77 and I-277. The news says it's parking rules for the DNC where if your car breaks down and you pull onto the shoulder, you can't leave it there. LOL It will be immediately towed off.

(It's not exactly as if anyone would choose this.)

I found the article in the other thread. Charlotte-area traffic lanes to open up for the DNC | CharlotteObserver.com

No parking is just bad wording. I can't wait to see that on the sign out here. Thanks for the heads up.

I guess the concern would be car bombs.

Indeed. So all they accomplished is to let the mad bombers know where not to leave their packages.

I assume it is partly security, partly not wanting cars abandoned on the side of the road for days, which looks bad for the area.

I've heard these signs are on all over the Interstates with the same message.

LOL, I saw the no parking sign in Kings Mountain.

FYI, state police are parked at Exit 8 & Exit 10, if anyone comes out this way.
