While I agree, I also accept that some kids are not very athletic by nature. It is no point to push them if they cannot (or maybe don't want) to excel in sports.
While I encourage and allow time for sports, my top priority is academics.
So it happens that one of my kids has no real love for any specific sport, prefers to read, leisure swim, etc. The other one is very competitive in sports by nature. While they both have sports time (I think it is important for development), I don't over emphasize the sports aspect.
Also I'm not going to push the first one to be someone is not, as long as academics excellence is there, I'm a happy parent.
