For me it is number one. I moved here when my company closed their Birmingham, AL location and gave some of us the opportunity to move up here. Shortly afterwards I found a better opportunity here and have enjoyed my tenure in Charlotte. Great city that is fun to see grow and be a part of.
BTW, you forgot your trademark ::: on the thread title
When we came years ago, it was for a job transfer.
But, we had the option of going to other places and still chose Charlotte over any of them.
I loved that NC offered both mountains and beaches, and that it was an up and coming destination with lots to offer, including great universities for my then young children
I love that Southerners have a sunny disposition, are thoughtful, kind, neighborly, and aren't in a frenzy.
Not to hijack, but how have you been enjoying your new home? Have you been able to get out and explore the city much? I spent time driving around the true Charlotte inner-neighborhoods and streets like Park Road, Queens, Providence, etc after moving to this side of town to get a feel for the city. There are so many parts of Charlotte that are not served by freeways and if you don't venture out you miss a lot of the fabric of the area.
Thanks to all who've participated in this poll/thread thus far

Nice of you to ask .
New York has changed so much in the last 25 years (in that it's gotten very generic), that I don't feel as though I've left much - making the transition that much easier.
Charlotte has a lot to offer - and so far I've admired the stately homes in Myers Park; the beautiful craftsmanship of the homes in Dilworth; the great park system in south Charlotte...
Time will tell if I grow jaded towards City planners (who're often accused of not knowing what they want), but it's nice to see that they take initiative in offering mass transportation options, and a great park system.
Yet the thing I appreciate most is the sunny disposition of the Southerners whom I've interacted with .
None of the above. but when we tried to explain to people at apartment complexes why we were moving, I'm pretty sure they had a checking with the same 4 answers. After giving a puzzled look, we would just tell them the weather.
#1 was the closest option for me. I got a new job offer, not a transfer.
