I'm planning on moving to the Charlotte area from Chicago (the suburbs) in about 2 years for school. I'm currently going to a community college then planning on transfering to UNCC or another school in the area for Public/Media relations. I want to do something with motorsports so obviously as far as internships and a future career goes, Charlotte is the place to be.
What I'm wondering is what are some good areas to live around? I'm planning on saving about $10,000 before I leave and renting an apartment for a 10 month lease (returning home for the Summer) so rent should be covered for my first year living there. Are there any nice apartments in the city or suburbs (Concord, Mooresville, etc) but still within 40 minutes or so from UNCC? Living where I do, anything under an hour drive is nothing and I'm super used to traffic so that's not much of an issue either. I'm looking for a nice 1 bedroom up to about $900 (at most) in rent per month. I know around here you can't get anything nice for under $1200 but the cost of living is also a lot higher. Also I'd prefer a place thats not lived in by mostly college students. I know it sounds weird, considering I am one but I took 3 years off so I don't want to be the only 23 year old living next to 18 year olds who are just starting to get the party years out of their systems haha.
Any advice would be great!

You are 23, do not live in Charlotte'e suburbs. Most of the city of Charlotte is suburban anyway. The non-city of Charlotte suburbs are more like Chicago's outer suburbs. I just graduated from UNCC two weeks ago by the way. I wouldn't live right next to the University either, the apartments near the school are crime ridden. I should know, my place got broken into twice. With your budget I would live in NoDa (the area is primarily young adults) close to 36th and NoDa, or South End which is amazing for commuting. You are right near I-77 and Uptown itself. NoDa is probably what you want though, it is only a 15-20 minute ride to UNCC yet you aren't drowning in loud college parties. Plus it is a great place to meet women (if that's what you want).
