In addition, years ago there was a tank farm in the Paw Creek area that did post the only environmental hazard of that kind in all of Charlotte. It was cleaned up, but in my mind I still associate that area with "less desirable" because of it.

They would attend Paw Creek Elementary School, not Pawtuckett...

Mountain Island has a better rating on greatschools.net, even though they appear to be averaging abt 10 more kids per class/teacher... my kids attend Paw Creek, and I do wish I had known abt that site b4 we moved- I would have picked a home in that zone. Had we moved less than a mile up the street, we would have, but I wont ponder on that!

I would like to add, though, that I really haven't been disappointed by Paw Creek, so far. I guess we shall see when my kids take the standardized tests...

Saying that, I like the ruralness of our area of Paw Creek/ Mountain Island...

'Tank Town' is at least a few miles from where she is looking, she's looking more toward Mountain Island, as opposed to the Freedom Drive/ Little Rock area of Paw Creek...

Best of luck on your home search...

We looked at several houses today, one in Ashley Farms and a few up north of town. We really like one in Northwoods, so I'm glad to hear that Paw Creek seems like a decent school. We've got a few more areas we want to scout and we were thinking about looking at some spec houses at some of the new subdivisions just to see what's out there.

Thanks to everyone for your help! Keep the ideas coming, I'm checking out everything!

When we were looking, we saw about 10 houses up in Northwoods...! Our second choice was actually in Northwoods.

We ended up settling in a tiny subdivision called 'Stoney Pointe'. It is actually next to Northwoods' southern side, through the woods.
