I will be a first-time homebuyer and I really like the Matthews Area. Does anyone know of good neighborhoods near McKee Rd and Weddington Rd (or anywhere in Matthews for that matter) that would be good for first-time homebuyers trying to keep it under $200k? Thanks.

There's some town homes on both sides of McKee Elementary School. The ones closer to 485/Providence Road have been there for a few years. The newest construction (closer to Kuykendall) are newly built. Don't know the prices or contact information but they're probably close to $200,000. Most homes in that demographic are over $200,000.

Good luck.... I've lived here my whole life, and I'm looking for the same thing- my parents live on McKee Rd, but we're going to end up buying in other areas b/c of price. Most things in that area are in the $200's and up, and you might end up looking at townhomes to keep it in that range, like muffinman said. I just saw a sign the other day for townhomes on that road in the $260's.

If you want to move a bit further south, there's several neighborhoods down the Hwy 16 corridor that will meet your needs. (Alma Village, New Town Village, Wesley Oaks etc.) There are some bargins out there as many folks are looking to get out from under some really bad mortages.

You could also try the Langston Subdivision as well as Mckee Woods Subdivision. Both are close to McKee Rd Elem, Col. Francis J Beatty Park (great bike trails and a lake to walk around) and the YMCA.

A quick search on the Matthews zip (28105) yields listings in Sardis Forest, Thornblade, Brightmoor, Providence Ridge, Matthews Grove, Somersby, Crestdale Crossing. I think all but Sardis Forest are in the area you were looking for.
