This is a bit last minute, but tomorrow I'm going with my friend to uptown Charlotte to celebrate her 33rd birthday. She says she just wants to walk around and take-in the city. I want to make this special, but I'm not sure where to take her. We have been to the Mint Museum a couple times and we're not really into Nascar - so what else is interesting to see? Best places to eat (on a budget)?

Tomorrow is Alive After 5, on the top deck of the Epicenter. Music and beer, if you like that kinda thing.

I highly recommend the new modern art museum: Bechtler Museum of Modern Art

and the Museum of the New South: Levine Museum of the New South

Also, take her to the Mimosa Grill for a bite to eat

If it's not too hot, it's nice to sit out on the upstairs terrace at Ri-Ra and people watch. I think their food is great and prices are reasonable.

I've never been to Mimosa as someone recommended but one of my fav's is Alexander Michael's in Fourth Ward. Great food with a casual atmosphere and you won't break the bank!

Get there early so you can get a good table. If you don't know, that place gets a little crowded.
