If you leave say around 6:30am you can go up Carmel to Colony, hang a left on Runnymeade & take Park to Scott to East to South then cut through downtown to get where you're going. I could easily be downtown by 7am.

If you have a GPS start exploring what look like good alternate routes on your own using the GPS if you get lost.

I'm about 2 turns off of Ballantyne Commons Pkwy, Johnson Road exit.

Coastgirl - I moved here out of Houston. I-10 rush hour in Houston makes this traffic seem like a super speedway!

Going TO work isn't a problem. I leave here about 6:15, and I'm there in roughly 20 minutes.

I will definitely give Park and Providence a try. I would take the Lynx, but my job often requires trips at a moment's notice, so being without a car would screw me.

Thanks again to all for the suggestions. I haven't tried Park yet, but going Providence to 51 to Rua to 485 had me home in about 35 minutes! Sure beats 1:20!

why not follow Park past East until it turns to Scott, then Kenilworth and right into town until it turns into Stonewall? Then you could make a right on Tryon or whatever. What's the benefit to getting on East and having to drag yourself across the light rail corridor?

I will have to give Park a try tomorrow. Providence has been consistently quicker, but has taken me as long as an hour depending on timing at the lights.

"...drag yourself across the light rail corridor?" If by corridor you mean two tracks with trains that come by every 5 or 6 minutes and are gone 20 seconds later. Really not much of a drag. I've tried every way for 16 years and this is the fastest for me.
