Wanted to send a shout out (how old am I again?) to Jim Dickerson Plumbing. I had a completely shot irrigation valve (thank you former lawn care service that will remain nameless) due to incorrect winterizing.

After getting a ridiculous quote from a big name plumbing company, also to remain nameless, I called Dickerson. They came out the next day, did very clean, professional work at an extremely reasonable amount.

Thanks guys!

Sunny: hope it's ok to post this. I am not in any way affiliated with them. Just very excited that this is fixed and that I was not robbed in the process

Is your entire irrigation system under ground - mainly the backflow preventer? Mine is, including the backflow preventer and I am wondering if I need to winterize.

The structure for us that leaked is one containing the back flow valves and shut offs. It may have a special name. It is above ground b/c otherwise it can't be tested or shut off. Testing typically occurs around now, when you turn on the irrigation system. You would winterize in November probably, by draining all the water out of the system, especially the valves section b/c this is where water can get trapped, freeze, expand and then crack the valve, causing all sorts of issues the following spring/summer. As this is my first ever irrigation system I don't know if it is even possible to be all underground.
