Does anyone know of any income based places to rent in or near Concord? I lost my home over a year ago and put an application in at the only 3 I know of in concord way back and I'm told there's still another year or 2 wait, at least. I'm older, single, and have limited income and have been staying in a garage while I wait and look for something I can afford. It seems hopeless.

Been there, done that. I know it's not Concord, but isn't that large multi-level apartment complex on Prosperity Church Road in Charlotte income-based?

some of the apartments along 73 aka Davidson Highway are income based in Concord. Farington West is one and the others surrounding it. There are some new ones going up behind Farington West. Hope this helps.

Farington west I'm on the list for..2+ year wait, from what they told me there's only 11 one bedrooms in the whole complex. I've found none that dont have years worth of wait list to get in. I've searched in concord and surrounding towns but its all the same story 2-4 year wait at every facility. If anyone knows any where theere's no or minimal wait I'd be forever grateful for the info.

What are your thoughts about applying for a Section-8 voucher from DSS?

when I called HUD here last year I was told the section 8 list here has been closed since 2007. See this is what I don't understand, there's all these programs but what help are they if there is none available? I've never needed housing help before, I had my house for 16 years so I'm unfamiliar with how it all works, all I know is everywhere I've tried I get into I'm told theres a long wait list. Its very discouraging.
I'm also looking for more work to supplement my income but thats another issue, and hard to come by. I dont need much just a roof with utilities, I have a lot of faith so been waiting for doors to open but gosh its been a year, my faith is dwindling. Seems there's no options at all in NC

Try the local boarding homes, although you may have to share a kitchen or bathroom at least you will have a roof over your head that you can afford

These are not in Concord, but worth a shot.
