Relocating to Charlotte 2011 (Raleigh, Concord, Salisbury: apartments, activities, property)

Hi All,

I am looking to relocate to Charlotte within the next 6-9 months. Some of the cities I am searching for apartments in are: Charlotte, Matthews, Concord, Huntersville, and Salisbury. I need feedback or suggestions on the following questions:

1. What industries are hiring?
2. What is personal property tax?
3. What are some cultural activities that people are involved in?
4. How diverse is the Charlotte metropolitan area?
5. What volunteer opportunities exist?
