Can someone explain to me specifically where this is? Is it just that whole end of Tryon with the Bachtler, Harvey Gantt Center, etc.? I keep reading about restaurants opening down there. Where is it? Thanks.

Look for the duke energy center, what used to be first street is now called levine avenue of the arts.

The restaurants will open later in the year, I know Emeirl is opening one, I think also energy cafe & a middle eastern place will be opening.

According to the Press Release Wells Fargo submitted in mid-January, the following retail is at or soon coming to Duke Energy Center and the Levine Center for the Arts Campus.....

Emeril’s will be modeled after their original store in the warehouse district in New Orleans and scheduled to open late 2011.
Q Sundries & Dry Cleaning – a convenience market already open on the lobby level in the Duke Energy Center.
EnergyCaf̩ Рa quick-service healthy eating restaurant that will open its second Uptown Charlotte location during the second quarter of 2011.
Mizan – a Mediterranean restaurant and lounge opening in the second quarter of 2011.
Flex & Fit – a health and fitness club opening late in the third quarter of 2011.
Emzy Asian.Sushi Bar – an Asian fusion/sushi restaurant opening in the third quarter of 2011.

Halcyon is open inside the Mint Museum Uptown on the second level, and it's wonderful. The Becthler Cafe is open located inside the Becthler Museum for Modern Art and is equally as good.

Still doesn't really answer my question. The Mint isn't on 1st Street at all. What is it, 4th or 5th? So did half of uptown" suddenly become the Levine Arts Campus? I don't see where the boundaries are.

(You know it is the NEW Mint museum that they are talking about)

Here is what Google told me:

Bechtler Museum of Modern Art - Visit - Levine Center for the Arts

Quote:
This dynamic development transforms nearly two city blocks, bounded by Tryon, Church and Stonewall Streets.
So I guess they are talking about the area outlined in blue - not sure if it ends at MLK blvd.

Okay, I guess what's confusing is there seems to be a new Mint Museum. What's become of the large, white "Mint Museum" building with the terrace overlooking the courtyard that leads up to Hearst Tower? How did I miss this?
