This will spark warm gulf moisture to overrun the currenty cold temperatures in place. It's likely this will not be a major event, however, one should not rule out a few inches of snow and sleet, or perhaps a .25 inch of freezing rain in spots. As of now a general .25 liquid equivalent looks possible. The models are waffling quite a bit currently on this storm, however, given the blocking over canada and intense 500mb low over the northeast, I believe the margin for error on this system will be south, not north like is generally the case in winter.
While it may not actually be severe, be prepared for this storm. A quarter of an inch of ice can bring down trees and cause power outages.

It may well be a significant weather event (unusual lows right now, for that matter) but it won't last long.

Be prepared to be without power for a couple of days. It can - and does - happen if this region gets ice.

Or it could be for a week or more depending on how many trees come down. Make sure your generator is in working order.
