Time Warner Cable is happy to announce that we increased the downstream speed of your Road Runner® Broadband from 7 Mbps to 10 Mbps! Now, you'll have even more speed to do what you love on the Internet – at speeds even faster than before, and at the same great price!
To ensure that you receive the full benefit of the new speeds you may need to "re-boot" your cable modem by unplugging and re-plugging the equipment.
Depending on what you had before the "upgrade" you may not see any difference in speed. I was expecting some dramatic changes and called them when the speeds essentially stayed the same. Apparently I started off with the speedy connection from the get go.
According to speedtest.net our connection went up to a whopping 3.5Mbps. Well below the 7Mbps they advertise with this change. It does explain why there was a TWC van on our street several days last week, though.

How long have you have your modem? I was around 1 mps on that site, but once they replaced my modem last week, then did this reset, the site had me up at 10 mps!
It's funny that the email subject stated Equipment Upgrade. I guess TWC considers unplugging the modem a equipment upgrade.
Um...it likely refers to a firmware upgrade, which requires a re-boot to implement the changes. Fairly standard for many electronic devices.
