We are conisdering a move to the Charlottle area. We need help in best area to move to. We have 3 children (3rd grade, 6th grade, & 8th grade). Our budget for a house is about $125,000. We want outside of Charlotte, a smaller town within 30mins to Charlotte. Of course want good schools that aren't to big (we come from a school now with over 1,000 in graduating class and its to big for me).
Any advise you could give would be great.

I am looking for the same. I actually came from Cornelius/Lake Norman area this weekend for a visit. It is very nice. They have great schools and plenty to do. I believe it is 15-20 minutes from Charlotte.

I hope everyone at least looks around the city area as well, there's a lot of great area w/in Charlote city limits that don't feel like city living as well. You'd be surprised!

Problem is "good schools" and only a budget of $125,000 do not go together inside Charlotte very often.

There ARE great places inside of Charlotte to live - most of Charlotte is very suburban feelings with lots of trees and green spaces. But if you need to buy something under $150,000 you are better off in one of the surrounding areas like Concord, Gastonia, Huntersville ect

But again, an area that can be expensive.

Thank you! I have been looking at Gaston County, can anyone tell me about the schools and area? You can only find so much on internet. The houses there look like my price range and everything I have read has pointed me in that direction but want to make sure. I work for a school where I am now and the school I work for has a great reputation for education but also is a rich snob school. The school my kids go to now is a great school education wise and people wise also, it's just to big for me. We live in a small town outside the big town and picked here because of the school and so did everyone else and now it's the 2nd largest in out state.
