We understand that downtown has an abundance of loft space owned by what is called "The Five Families".

My wife & I (no kids - 2 dogs) are both self-employed, both of us grew up in the City of Charleston. We wish to stay here in the state, however both our professions require some space.

We are city kids & need sidewalks, a cup of coffee & a good slice. Downtown Charleston is "almost" livable (just needs a Wholefoods/Trader Joes) & we wish to stay.

So we are giving the city one more year to keep us in the state. If not, we have to be on our way to another city which can.

We are in DIRE need of some loft space. My wife does voice-over work with her own studio & I'm in online retail/shipping.

We need about 2000-3000 sqft, nothing more or less. Raw open space is just fine, but really needs to be in the city - no west or east side - Capital, Quarrier, Summers, Hale etc.

So, if ANYONE has the ear of these five families - we are ready to buy!

Thanks so much - Bob & Amie

I cant recommend a place, but you can directly contact the real estate/property management companies. I would even think there would be signs up in the area.

I can start to ask around. There are new loft style apartments in downtown, they are just hard to find info on. I do know that one with about 2-3,000 sq feet would probably be located on the river. I'll try to finf out some info, and try to post back.

Note that, this is a very good place to live with lots of shopping, dining, entertainment, ect... all in downtown. You can't beat having a three level mall, art and science museum, civic center, and two other major concert halls all within a short walk.

Here is an article of some loft stype apartments right on Capital Street. Contact info is on the second page.

.
If you want to talk to someone who can really help
and knows all of the areas, call this man, and tell him,
Jack ( a personal friend ) told you.
