The former Ramada Suites is being renovated and will become the new Holiday Inn. While the former Charleston House Holiday Inn in downtown will become the new Ramada.
Once the South Charleston hotel is complete, work will begin on the downtown location.
do you know if they are building another Holiday Inn Express in Cross Lanes? The 3 story building under construction on Golf Mtn Rd looks like its going to be a hotel, and the shape looks just like a Holiday Inn Express. Lord I hope not because we've already have 3 Holiday Inn's in Kanawha County, plus one in Putnam.

What happened to the one they were going to build in Kanawha City?
Plus, I've seen that Mayor Jones is trying to get another big hotel for downtown. He hasn't anounced anything yet, but I heard rumors of a Hyatt.
I've heard a Hyatt as well, that would be great. Also, to CT's liking, i read an article about a huge renovation project on the Civic Center and expansion of it's facilities. It was in the Daily Mail paper, but couldn't find it online.
Also, there is going to be a new Catholic School and Grand Basillica built on the intersection of Leon Sullivan and Quarrior. The rendition looked terrific, it was mostly in red split faced brick.
Went by the hotel under construction in Cross Lanes today, and they are working hard on it. The roof was being added today. There is no doubt in my mind that it is going to be another Holiday Inn Express.
The Civic Center renovation will be huge for downtown, and will only attract even more big names and events.
I think that there should be a hotel right in the Village District, possibly on Capital St. Hyatt would be great, and would make 7 hotels in downtown, and 4 of them 3 stars or higher.
A SpringHill Suites or a Courtyard would be a nice compliment to the downtown Marriott. I would build in on the the old Town Center Inn site. JMHO
Here is what I'm thinking, making the old Stone & Thomas Department Store a Courtyard or something like it. That building is sitting empty, and would take alot of $$$ to remodel, but I feel it is in the perfect location. Right in the middle of the Village District, in walking distance to both the Clay Center and Town Center/Civic Center. The building has plenty of room for both a large hotel and possible first level retail center. I could see a couple of restaurants on the bottom floor, with a lobby and main entrance on the Lee street side. The building could even leave the retro look, and place its name and logo on the silver marquee.
