The 2008 "Pass" test scores were just released. The new "PASS" test replace the old "Pact" tests/scores.
A description of the new test can be found here.
As in the past, I am proving this information to forum members in order for member and visitors to have an objective basis for evaluating the academic environment and achievements of the different school in the Charleston tri-county area. I have read many posts that compare Charleston County schools with District 2 schools, with so many comments upon how poor the schools are in Charleston County relative to those in the Dorchester 2 District. This comparison is true if one looks at the test averages of the two school districts. However, a parent does not send their child to a school district, but rather to an individual school within the district. For this reason I feel it more important that anyone considering relocating to the Charleston area evaluate schools individually when deciding where to live, rather than relying upon the "reputation" of the school district alone.
I have often posted information or links to newly released information on Charleston County school test scores and achievements. As I am most familiar with the schools in Mt. Pleasant, having sent two daughters through the public school system in this town, I am setting forth links to the new "Pass" scores of elementary and middle school in Mt. Pleasant below. I feel that a parent cannot go wrong in senidn their child to any school in the town of Mt. Pleasant.

It is interesting to note that the test scores of the schools in all subjects in Mt. Pleasant were higher than the Dorchester 2 averages. This supports the importance of identifying the individual school your child may attend rather than getting too "hung up" over the generalization although true, that the Dorchester 2 school district is better than Charleston County schools.
