Hi Everyone,

My kids (11 and 12) have off from school tomorrow and I would love to take them on a trip to somewhere fun. We have done a lot of the Charleston sightseeing stuff and I am hoping to get out of Charleston/Mount Pleasant (not that we don't love it here and drive North maybe? Any cool towns worth exploring up there?

I'm hoping you might throw something my way that I haven't heard of. Thanks!

Brookgreen Gardens. It's not too far from Georgetown actually, you could combine the two into a nice little trip .

I thought of Brookgreen Gardens right away too but I'm not sure if it's for 11-12yr olds. They'll probably burn out on the sculpture but the fox squirrels might hold their attention.

Have you been to the Center for the Birds of Prey in Awendaw? That is a pretty cool place.

That's an excellent suggestion. Call ahead, they usually exercise the birds twice a day and it's done as a visitor demonstration. You can also stop by the Sewee outpost store right nearby.

I was going to suggest the Serpentarium at Edisto...evidently it is closed for the winter.

Have you visited the Firemen's Musuem near the outlet mall?

How 'bout a trail ride on horseback out on Seabrook Island (you do not have to be staying on SBI to be able to ride the horses)?
