I've got a question for you guys. I've done some researching on the income of residents of Isle of Palms (as of last year's census) and I've also looked at MLS listings for the area (doesn't hurt to dream, right?). I'm wondering how families with modest income can afford to live there.
Most can't. Between house prices on the Isle, plus home owner's insurance costs, i.e. flood, wind and hail, IOP isn't an "affordable" option unless you're looking at a very large down payment from an earlier real estate sale, or you're making much more than a modest income. Condos and townhomes could be found for under $500k as well.
that's funny! That's pretty much what I was thinking. Time to start saving...
