How do they compare? What are the pros and cons of each? What do they each have to offer? What has more going on as as far as outdoor events, festivals, block parties, food trucks, holiday events, etc? Do they both have a sense of community where the town comes together to enjoy events? Do they both have big box stores and everyday needs closeby? Which has the most affordable housing? Schools are not of importance. Any info on either would be great.
I just responded to the message you sent me earlier. I also looked at the Avondale area and really liked it, but was pretty much priced out of that neighborhood. With the maintenance of an older home to keep in mind, a new home in the Park Circle area made more sense for my situation. They're both lovely neighborhoods though!

I maybe in the same situation with our budget. Does Avondale have alot going on as well?
Except for the fact that most of the homes don't have garages and it is so close to Savannah highway and therefore probably noisier, I like the fact that Avondale is closer to beaches; the harbor and downtown. The walkability to restaurants on Savannah highway and to Earthfare and Starbucks is nicer too.
Avondale puts you under 5 minutes to downtown Charleston and less than 15 to Folly Beach. So for "things going on" it will win out over Park Circle, any day (regardless of how much I like Park Circle).
