That's what I was thinking too. But what I don't understand is the difference between students tested and exams taken and why they are a different number?
The important and only important stat here is the percentage of kids that got 3 or higher. Doesn't matter how many AP tests were taken if the kids don't score a 3 or higher it means nothing.
90% of the exams with a 3 or higher -- that is exceptionally good, especially given the size of Wando. You would expect as the school population increases that stat to decrease. WOW -- feeling very good about the choice to send my child to Wando.
test scores for a school have less to do with the administration and faculty and more with the kids / parents / community / socioeconomic status. i'd bet dollars to donuts the AP teachers at Wando could not even get half those results at Burke, Baptist Hill or North Charleston high schools.
you could look statewide and there are plenty of Wando's scoring in the 80s and 90s and they look just like wando does demographically.
keep in mind also that even though a 3 means you "passed" an AP exam there is no such thing as passed in the AP world. a college reserves the right based on their own policy to grant college credit towards a students AP score. while scoring a 3 or higher is a very good indicator of being able to handle college material / collegiate environment. i know many schools nationwide that have eliminated "3's" from consideration and are strictly going with 4s and 5s on AP tests.

I have to disagree. I think seeing that a large number of students have committed to AP classes & exams is actually a good sign in itself. It means they are pushing themselves. The number of exams taken per student (esp at Magnate) also show that at some point the student is pressing beyond their comfort zone. I say that as someone who did Calculus and History exams but didn't come within a mile of attempting anything related to languages.
I think any of the schools that topped 70% for a pass rate did well.
And I'll give credit to the kids at a couple of our perenielly low schools who atleast made the attempt. I'm sure it earned them no cool points and its no fun to see your school lay the proverbial egg. Atleast they are forming a habit of challenging themselves.
