Has anyone moved from Hawaii to Charleston area and been caught off guard by education being a little different? My worry is that my daughters high school transcripts aren't up to par. Why, well some of the classes having different grade standards. For example, Math you can get a 50-59 and it is a D. Is that nuts or what. Not to be sarcastic, but this is the norm here.
Thanks in advance.
No recent experience, but I did move a kid from Hawaii schools (elementary) back stateside several years ago. Since it was elementary, there wasn't a problem.
If they are middle school or high school, there's not much you can do other than work with the school system and get involved with it early.
I remember the HS problems in Hawaii, and I can only imagine they've gotten worse over the years.

They are pretty sad. Apparently they have allowed teachers to curve the grades so they pass with a GPA that is good. They are also working on getting rid of the whole A B C D F system too. Put it this way, a 50-64 is a D in one class, and its math class. UNSAT......
