I would suggest documenting the exact error message you are receiving, possibly check the call forwarding settings on your phone, and, depending on whether your carrier uses GSM SIM cards or CDMA technology, test the SIM card in another phone of the same carrier if you have one available. Call your wireless carrier once you have at least gotten the error message jotted down. Speak with technical support and see what they can do for you. It sounds like it's more network related, so speaking to them would probably help you figure out what the problem is.
