Heather Locklear has been spotted acting erratically in Malibu, California, sparking renewed fears for her well-being.
Locklear — who has a well-documented history of struggles with substance abuse and mental health issues appeared to be reading aloud from what looks to be a journal while sitting on the outdoor steps.
At one point, a disheveled Locklear aggressively pointed at something in the book, slammed it shut and continued to talk to herself before making her way down a staircase....
This is really sad, especially for her family. There have been lots of rumors about her over the years and if some of them are actually true, I can see where she would have serious issues including PTSD and severe guilt. I hope it's not the case. Whatever happened, whether this is serious drug abuse or more, I wish her health and happiness. It becomes really difficult to keep yo-yo-ing as one gets older.
When for a major portion of your life, you were noticed, valued, and praised for your beauty, and then, regardless of attempts to keep it from fading, you find yourself no longer in possession of that very powerful gift, it is a difficult thing to lose. It's a natural process yes, but it's still not easy to accept that it's gone - and it's never coming back. At that point you have to find things about yourself to nuture and grow to replace your sense of self worth that was so strongly attached to your youthful physical looks.
Let's just say I get it. On a personal level. And she and I are about the same age. I think we who were the youth of the 1970's and 1980's thought we could not get old. If you were never prized for your looks, you may not understand. It's a loss of something that, for better or worse, is very powerful in our society.
I feel badly for her. But I also understand the comfort, albeit a false comfort, that alcohol can seem to bring. She's got to let it go. It's over. It's time to pass the torch and move on to finding value in herself and in life because by the time we reach the big 60, the hour is starting to get late.
Too bad she lived in and believed in the mythical life in Hollywood, where you are eaten up and spit out for whatever reason. Fame and beauty are fleeting. Each generation has their own stars and artists. The "has beens" need to realize this as they ease into old(er) age. Egos are also responsible for how we end up. Looks like Heather really was a "ditzy blonde".
I do feel bad for her, though. I liked her "back in the day", and my daughter thought she was "so pretty" at age 3 when Heather was starring in TJ Hooker.

I remember her growing up. She was like an 80's version of Pamela Anderson many men went crazy over her. Hope she can have a later career revival and more importantly get clean and healthy.
If you have even the slightest bit of mental illness in you drug abuse will find it and amplify the heck out of it.
Lots of people are slightly off because no one is perfect and drugs do not descriminate.
Yes, I found that mental illness causes one to self-medicate... then the mental illness is exacerbated by the self-medication (drug or alcohol abuse).
