We have a new edition to the family, her name is Luyu. She's 3 months old. We brought her home Friday evening. I noticed that she was sneezing, as the weekend passed her sneezing continued and sometimes the poor girl would blow little bubbles. Her eyes are watery too, she keeps wiping her eyes.
This morning I could hear some congestion. I called the vet, she has her appt tomorrow at 4pm (first available).
She eats & drinks and is pottying normally, but she sleeps sooooo much! She is sleeping 23hrs out of the day. Of course I've googled her symptons and she could have allergies, uri, pnemonia. So I am a little freaked. I have 2 other cats, needless to say, they are not happy with the new little one so they haven't been around her. But I am still concerned with whatever little Luyu has, it may be contagious.
I've sent a message to a friend where I got her from to ask if any of the 3 other kittens left were showing signs of illness. I haven"t heard back yet. (I know she's at work now)
Thanks everyone for listening, I needed to share my worry!
I hope that everything goes well at the vet. She is a beauty and it's possible that it is just the stress of moving into a new home. Let's hope for the best.
Kittens sleep alot! Sometimes the stress of the move to a new home can cause all that you mentioned. Sneezing is common...but I don't like the watery eyes and congestion. I would keep her isolated from the others until you get to the vet. Hopefully, it is nothing to be concerned about.
She may have a slight URI (upper respiratory infection). URIs usually clear up pretty quickly, especially if your vet gives her any antibiotics. And yes, do keep her isolated so she doesn't infect your other animals. Fingers crossed the vet can allay your worries and all is well.
I agree with Chilaili...URI, antibiotics should help with that pretty quicky. We had a sick baby a few weeks back, and now he is trying to run the other two big boys around the house! Please let us know how she is!
ASee her other thread - this poor kitty has fe-leuk.
