I do wish he’d stop that, but aside from that, the claws haven’t been a problem and I would not consider having him declawed. He is a sweet and friendly kitten and he is meant to have claws!

It's not protest, exactly. Cats can't stand closed doors. He just wants to be where you are. You can put a sisal mat down to protect the carpet (or open the door and let him in)

When I think about how evil and greedy a vet is to amputate the toes of a cat on all four feet..that poor cat could never even scratch an itch! And the fact that you adopted her from a shelter proves the lie that feline toe amputation "keeps the cat in his home".

Yeah, she was actually found outside on the street and someone brought her into the shelter. Then she spent the next 12 years being loved and spoiled by me.

I don't get why it isn't illegal everywhere and why vets would do such a thing in the first place legal or not.

1. Ignorance of its effects on the cat: which should be inexcusable for an educated veterinarian.

2. Income: which puts profit ahead of the client animals welfare.

3. Pleasing clients who want it done: which goes right back to the profit motive.

4. A vet doesn't like doing it, but will to make sure it's "done right": hypocritical at best. And there is no "doing it right".
