Black cats (and dogs!) are typically adopted last. They're seen as bad luck, scarier, or generally less desirable.
I don't get it. It's fur lol.
They also tend to become invisible when hunkered down at the back of the cage in a shelter. If they don't catch the eye of a potential adopter, they can be easily overlooked.
Black cats are very cool. They look like miniature black panthers. With that said, I've never been a person to pick a pet by it's color either cat or dog.
No witches in this house, but I've got a black cat on my lap right at this moment, purring like crazy. When we went to the shelter several years ago to adopt, we asked which cat had been there the longest and needed a home. They immediately said Cassie. She had actually been at another shelter for several months and they had moved her, hoping for a fresh start as no one seemed to want her. Between the two shelters, she had been over a year waiting for a new home. She had two strikes against her as she was a black cat and was three years old. The shelter folks said that in general, people want a kitten or a cat with pretty markings. It was a long wait for her, but at least she finally would up hitting the cat lottery with us.
Is this a joke? I am not a witch, although at times I can be a b itch. My first cat, Magic was black with green eyes. He never met a person he didn't like.
My black cat looks very much like a miniature panther. My son wanted me to name her Bagheera from The Jungle Book but I couldn't see myself calling her that.
I've had five black cats over the years: Satan, CoCo, Big Mouth, Lovey, and my current big boy Scooter. They were all strays or rescues and sweethearts as well.
One of my refrigerator magnets is of a black cat and ....... "My good luck started when you crossed my path".
I love that.
In a perfect world you would be able to tell me where you got it, and they would still have some on hand, then I would I have one too.
