Sometimes you can get a cat who won't eat otherwise to eat a little human baby food, just put it on your finger and wipe it onto the roof of the cat's mouth.

Hate to say it but my Big Bear would not eat, and it turned out to be kidney failure, which is what takes out most elderly cats. I kept him going a few more weeks with the baby food and IV solution. Not sure that was really the best thing to do in retrospect, but he seemed to have a decent quality of life up till the very last, although mostly just sleeping a lot.

Make sure he's getting some water too.

Fingers crossed for this little guy.

Yep, tried that and every other trick I could think of.

However, I have happy news. He is doing better and eating on his own again! I wish it were more, but he is eating and that is step one. He is also purring again, after a week of not purring at all.

He has a ways to go, because he is still quite congested, but we're making progress.

That's wonderful news & I hope he continues to get better. Give Benny some extra lovin's from me.

I was delighted last night when Benny started meowing and "grr-ing" again. He hadn't been vocal in at least a week. He is a tough little dude.

I've noticed this illness has brought us closer together. He was my husband's cat before we were married, so it thrills me that he loves both of us.

I've had similar experiences. There's no doubt in my mind that they know who helps them feel better when they're ailing. Sometimes things happen for a reason.
