Tissy is 14 1/2 and a tiny thing genetically. I don't want her wasting away.

Luckily she loves wet food. Her normal food consists of Fancy Feast pate, Sheba perfect portions pate and if I find some other brand I think she'll like I grab it. She loves the food with gravy, but she can't live on gravy alone. She may have a fish flavor a few times a month. I avoid food with carageenan, cellulose and stuff I know shouldn't be in there - when I can read the tiny ingredients.

I have recently moved to another state and had to leave my beloved vet. I have found a vet that I like, but, I was sent home with some "prescription" food samples. I generally don't get mad at vets for this reason - what I feed my cats is my responsibility not theirs. I need to know what wet food has the protein, phosphorus, etc. levels that will help her improve or, at least, maintain her current numbers for as long as possible.

At this point, she's between a Stage 1 and Stage 2 - I'd say closer to 2.

I'm very familiar with Tanya's webpage, but I can't seem to find what I'm looking for.

Should I just keep her on her current diet and feed her as often as she wants?

Rotate prescription and regular food to keep the protein and phosphorus levels down?

Any suggestions on brands that would be in her best interest?

Guessing it means chronic kidney disease.

I found this great food chart at cat info.org (click on #1 Google drive):
https://catinfo.org/docs/CatFoodProt...horusChart.pdf

It lists phosphorus levels for each food and if it's a "prescription" food.

IMHO I'd keep her diet the same and maybe add some water to each serving to add extra liquid to her system. I'm not a fan of prescription diets.

I found that list, thank you.
I guess what I'm trying to find out is - what is the level to stay below?
I definitely won't feed her strictly prescription food (not a fan, either), but, maybe a mixture of the two would keep her where she needs to be numbers-wise. And, I'd love to be able to fatten her up.

Perhaps catsmom21 wouldn't mind if you direct message her...tell her I sent you

she is the most knowledgeable on cats and nutrition etc.

If you do decide to go with a prescription food, my recently departed Cyrus LOVED the Hill K/D brand... it comes in both chicken and fish, and he slightly preferred the latter (but would take either). It was apparently some good stuff, because my other cats AND dog were constantly trying to steal it from his plate. I had a few cans left after Cyrus passed away, and with the okay from my vet, just gave to the other cats. They gobbled it up.

The vet did give me a couple of sample cans of food - the Hill's k/d was the preferred (chicken stew).

I have decided to do a mix of the Hill's k/d and a selection of foods with the lowest phosphorus amounts. I've spent the weekend compiling info from various sources online. Using that info, I have gathered a selection of brands/flavors to see what is consumed.

We will do the best that we can.

Best of luck!! My Cyrus lived about 8-9 months after his diagnosis, but he was also 17 years old by then... so a slightly younger cat might have a better outlook.
