It is okay I guess, but he starts whining at me if I don't pick him up and hold him. He has to sit down next to me all the time, he acts like he wants to make out with me constantly. If I get up and go somewhere else, he will follow me. I guess I can't complain, usually cats keep to themselves but not this one. Even when we have company people comment "wow, your cat really likes you"

It's not true that "usually cats keep to themselves". Cats are very social animals. My cats are always where I am, though not quite as much as you describe.

That may be his personality, or maybe he's lonely (how long is he left alone every day?) or needs more play time with you.

Also, something most people never think of, perhaps his diet needs to be improved. The healthier the diet, the healthier the behavior. Feed an all wet (canned) high meat protein diet, no fish. Avoid foods that contain a lot of grains, carbohydrates, fruits and veggies, or artificial stuff. (dyes, preservatives, sodium nitrites)

I think it is his personality, we are always home, and I do not work long hours and come home for lunch. Also, I am the only one in the household who feeds, brushes, gives treats, cleans litter box...so that might have something to do with it too.
