While giving him a little waterless bath Saturday night, I discovered a lump just forward of the top of his left thigh. About the size of pistachio nut.
Called the vet first thing this am and we went straight in. The dr did a needle aspiration, looked at one of the slides himself and sent the others out to the lab. He said he didn't see anything negative, but the lab could see more. He did say the lump felt like it was attached to tissue. I thought the same as I couldn't just reach under it as you could with a bite.
Naturally, the first thing which crossed my mind is VAS.......however........he didn't have any vaccinations in his left leg.
What about other shots??? pain meds? antibiotics?
Sweet little boy is only 10 months old..............
I'll call my vet in the morning and ask him what he thinks. If there is any more information or details please try and post those. I don't understand what you meant by "What about other shots??? pain meds? antibiotics?"
That your vet looked at the slide himself, and then Didn't send it to IDEXX (I'm presuming) seems like a good sign to me.
He's been neutered and had some orthopedic surgery on his feet (he was walking on the outsides of his paws)....therefore the pain meds and antibiotic shots.
I apologize for not "getting back" to you, I know your worried. When your vet gets the lab results, get a copy of ALL the results, for your "files" not just what he tells you. Then you can either post ALL of the results or DM me, or you can send me a copy in the mail, for my vet to look at.
Your vet sounds very competent, it's just that Charcoal is so young (and you've already done so much for him) he deserves any assistance I can offer.
The vet I have now, diagnosed Meeko, with one blood test (cancer and pancreatitis, confirmed by ultrasound) when no other vet even thought there was anything wrong with him. I was convinced otherwise and kept looking for someone to help him.
