Does the news media in Canada tell it to you straight, without any political slant? Do they report what's important, and not the tabloid stuff you often find on U.S. news networks?

I've watched the CBC before on a long layover in Toronto-Pearson, I found it very similar to the BBC in format. Less talking heads, but they do have their opinionated and biased talking heads, just not from noon till midnight like the U.S. But, just like the BBC, they have a center-left bias. Not a single Canadian media outlet is unbiased, it's just more cleverly disguised just like the BBC.

Isn't Norm MacDonald's brother a famous anchor or reporter up there?

The CBC is nicknamed the Communist Broadcasting Corporation for it's left-wing bias.
SUN-TV has a right-wing bias.
People left and right will accuse CTV of being biased towards one or the other.
Toronto Star has a left-wing bias.
National Post has a right-wing bias.

In other words, the Canadian media is the same as the US media. Personally, I think the Canadian media just hides it better whereas in the US it's more in your face and obvious.

We certainly dont have anything to compare with Fox Entertainment or MSNBC and as for the likes of Limbaugh and Beck I havent seen anything as entrenched here in Canada as they are in the US.
Chris i'm sure with a minimal of effort you can probably tune in to many of the Canadian news shows through live streaming on the web, watch tonights CBC news and tell us what you think..

They all have biases....and since most media is owned by large corps (and relies on other corps for revenue), it is hard to think of any as being super left wing (or communist).

Still, MSNBC has a very strong bias for a certain type of liberalism. The left doesn't seem to have the equivalent in Canada. Unlike the right....

Sun News is a new network...and it is doing its best to copy Fox News.
Its parent company, QuebecCorp, has run tabloid style newspapers (in most major cities) for decades. They seem to promote a separatist line in Quebec and promote anti-quebec bias throughout the rest of the country. Telling Quebeckers that the ROC hates them, and then telling he ROC to hate Quebeckers is an interesting strategy.... Fortunately most Canadians ignore Sun.

The rest of our TV news is centrist (at least by Canadian standards), with the CBC leaning left CTV sitting in the middle, and Global leaning right....
