Hey folks, recently inherited a tent trailer and set it up at the house the other day. Went to plug in the shore line (electicity) into the garage outlet, but the trailer lights, fans etc...would not work. I'm sure their is something I am not doing to allow the system to work. It is a "Designer" series trailer, seems pretty fancy compared to other pop ups I have seen. Oh well, any ideas on why the system doesn't work when plugged into the house would be helpful. I am just getting familiar with this trailer. Thx

Do you have a battery in it? I think that's a must.

Check to see if any of the breaker switches in the converter are tripped.

Look at the converter or inverter. Check to make sure the switch is in the right position and breakers are not tripped.

Jayco is a very good brand of pop-up tent trailers. I'd love to have one some day.

Looked in the converter, breaker looked good and the four fuses in it looked good. switch was ok. Battery for the trailer was dead, but cables were hooked up to it. Maybe I need a charged battery to make the loop work???? Still figuring out.

Check the plug in the garage to make sure it is live.

Yes you may need a fresh battery.

Also some campers have a series of switches to turn on current to different areas, such as one for left side lights and equipment, right side lights and outdoor power. My truck camper has that mounted on a lower cabinet by the door (First thing you turn on when arriving, last thing you turn off when packing up). Maybe you have the same thing?

More news...plugged into the garage again and then took a house lamp out to the trailer. Plugged the lamp into trailer wall plug and it turned the lamp on. I then rechecked the breaker at the converter, the fuses at the converter and then hit the GFI switch again to reset. So, maybe the converter box is bad???? It is an "Elixer" model. Anyone had to change out converters??? How much???

No, you are getting power to the camper through a shore line. Next thing to check is the battery. I am willing to bet the batter needs to be replaced. I am guessing it is discharged to the point that it wont take a charge or hold a charge.
