Try a search for Travis schools--awhile back there was an excellent thread about Solano County area schools.

Briefly, Travis schools are considered the best in the area (my info is 15 years old when I lived in the area, tho). That was partly because of the high percentage of students who are offspring of air base employees and were generally well behaved and disciplined. Growth in recent years has changed the schools, and Travis USD is no longer strictly "the air force base's school district."

But that said, the area school district pecking order remains 1) Travis 2) Vacaville 3) Fairfield-Suisun. Be careful as the district boundaries cut straight through some subdivisions, leaving homes just a block away from each other in different school districts. And California virtually requires an act of God for permission to transfer to an adjacent school district, so you're stuck with the one you happen to reside in.

Travis still has only one high school (Vanden); don't know if they still have only one middle school (Golden West) but wouldn't be surprised if there are two now.

Good luck on your move.
