I have a mountain parcel in Tehachapi area which I planned to build a small house for retirement. My question is how much is the cost to build a house like 1500 in this area? What is the inexpensive house style that fits this area?

Thanks a lot!

How good of a relationship do you have with the City of Tehachapi?

You could get a 1500' house done for $275 a foot, or you might not get a building permit at any price. It all depends on you and how you grease some palms...

Here's a start....

Inside the city limits? Stallion Springs? Depends on exactly where in Kern County your lot is located.

It is actually a mountain lot in Bear Valley Springs. Does this make a difference? Thanks.

Yes, it would make a difference. Sounds like your lot is located in unincorporated Kern County. Look at the property’s legal description on the grant deed. If it’s located in the city of Tehachapi, the legal description would say so. Therefore, I would consult the County Building and Planning Departments regarding permits.
