You'll need to do your research on prices, but what about the opposite side of Redding from Igo/Ono?

That would be Shingletown. It gets you into the tree cover. It's close to Lassen, and removes you a bit from the valley heat. The drive into Redding doesn't require going up and over any mountain passes. You can do big grocery shopping in Palo Cedro. In the past, Shingletown had a Mom & Pop grocery store for milk and eggs.

I will say, though, that the postal workers always seem to be having a good time. Now that they imprisoned the one supervisor who was stealing drugs from the mail - and burglarizing people's homes to get their drugs after learning who got them LOL.

Boring and isolated usually describe the places I like most, so I'll have to look into that!

I just didn't think Del Norte county had any cheap land. Can you find 10-20 acre parcels for less than $10k an acre there? I haven't seen much of anything online.

Work harder, you'll find the info online.

Deep North aka Jefferson.

It's cheap for a reason. No jobs, fee amenities, little infrastructure, lacking civic institutions (schools, libraries, hospitals, etc).

Not worth it, IMO.

If you can't afford at least Sacramento, best to move east out of state to the Donald Trump people places.

LOL that would be Crescent City. They actually built a shrine to him downtown, which was vandalized enough that they finally took it down. I dont' think it was anti-trump people, necessarily, probably just homeless people who could use the lumber for their camps behind Safeway ha ha.

Wow that's ignorant. I used to live in Sacramento and specifically left to come here to the north state because I couldn't put up with Sacramento, I think it's a ****hole.

I don't want the crowds and commotion, I can work basically anywhere, and I could care less about schools and libraries. I want to be more self sustaining and out in nature. It's like you didn't even read my original post.

Maybe you could help with some suggestions of places in Northern California you'd avoid the most? That would probably narrow down areas I'd like.

Be careful of some northern towns like ClearLake, Orland and even Orville that have high crime and serious drug trafficking. The droughts brought alot of unemployment to areas in the north which rely on farming dollars.

I would recommend Chico/Paradise area. It has enough city life accessibility without the insane traffic and commotion of the Sacramento/SanFrancisco/LA. It is really a gem in this area and offers so many secret shopping and entertainment you wouldn't expect from a town this small. I do love it.

Williams is a tiny town that is considered "up and coming" with development ongoing. It's a nice small town. They've managed to keep alot of the riff raff out of the city.

Willows is also ok with probably the cleanest air quality in the region, it has a Walmart, Dollar Store, Some Fast food and ACE Hardware. Like Williams it has a small town appeal but I feel like there may be trashy folk from Orland & Clear Lake starting to move into the area. No development has hit Willows yet and if the drifters continue to migrate to the area then it's pretty much doomed.

And no, there isn't ridiculous crime in the areas you listed like you seem to think.

The town of Clearlake, and to some extent, Lower Lake, have issues, but there are other parts of the lake and Lake County generally, that are nicer.

Didn't see anyone mention Etna, ca for you. Just South of Yreka, West of Weed. A quick search looks like 100k will get you 40-80 acres.
