Isn't far from the ocean. Carmel River flows thru.

MALIBU in a gated estate similar to Gulls Way with access to the beach below. Is that specific enough?

ha. yes.

Well the *specific* cost of living matters, a little

I have thought about moving inland. But I think I still dream of actually living on the coast where its actually a bit warmer...like San Diego.

What bugs me about San Diego is I tend to get that 'it's the end of the world' feeling (ok its just the end of the US). Kinda like living in Texas, there aren't as many options for weekend trips, well unless you don't mind staying in Texas.

San Diego is a bit farther from everything but they seem to have the best weather...

that's what I'm talking about....swimming weather! Are there any natural lakes in California that are actually good for swimming?

I know the Pacific is cold here. I know its cold everywhere but hawaii for the most part....but I spotted quite a few people in San Clemente without wetsuits, does the water warm up enough down around San Diego to actually swim a bit? I seem to recall going into the water in May in Laguna Beach area before...

If you live in the Sacramento / Delta areas you will appreciate swimming in the delta river system in summers - when the temps are in the 90°s and plus many days for months. Seriously.
