Hey guys, I'm curious as to the cost of living difference (for renters specifically) in different areas of California, specfically the difference between SoCal (Los Angeles area) and San Jose. I wouldn't necessarily be fussy about the area and would be looking for a studio or 1 bedroom apartment, and it doesn't have to be a gated community or something that is insanely safe or has amazing schools or anything as I'd be a single male. Again, I'm mostly just concerned about the general difference in the cost of living between these two areas, if there is any. Any information would be great, thanks.

It's pretty hard to generalize as just moving a few blocks in any direction can affect the rental prices.

Do you have job opportunities in both places and are you deciding on which one to choose based on the two cities' COL?

To completely generalize the cost of living in SJ vs. LA, overall SJ is more expensive. As a whole the Bay Area tends to be more expensive than the greater LA area. Obviously, prices vary from neighborhood to neighborhood, but overall the Bay Area has a higher cost of living than the LA area. They are both expensive areas of CA to live in.
