I know what you're saying about crime in those areas, I remember many years ago when Orlando was a fairly quiet little town, but it has grown so much over the past several years. I think we all have saw many changes in FL in the past few years, some good and some not so good. I won't rule out moving back to FL some day maybe, but there would have to be some drastic changes from the way things are now.

Please! Central FL is nothing compared to where I live now.

I grew up in the Merritt Island/Cocoa Beach area, and lived in Cocoa and Titusville when I was getting my degree. I currently live in Springfield, MA. You want to see a $hithole, come to Springfield. I think that we are the 16th worst place for crime in the US according to the FBI crime stats. And most of our students (like 80%) can't pass the MCAS (the standardized test that is the equivalent of the FCAT). The FBI came in a couple of years ago and arrested a bunch of corrupt politicians (because they were fellow Democrats, no one on the state level would turn them in). Also, the city is so broke that the state of MA controls it now with a Finance Control Board, but we still pay the salaries of the mayor, city council, and school committee. And we're not even near the beach, and have crappy, cold overcast weather most of the year!

My hubby and I are looking to get back to the Space Coast in another year. I'll take whatever "crime" has come to Central FL to get away from the murders, rapes, and political corruption here. Ciao!

Some areas have a higher proportion of crime type individuals, its not a secret thats how it is. People love to say crime is everywhere, and it is, its just percentages are higher from one place to another. The walmarts here in the Portland area, all seem to be built in high crime parts of town, hence what you describe in Titusville is also alive and well here in Portland. That scene that was described of stealing from the woman in the parking lot, Lets hope he gets caught and they throw the key away on him, since he most likely steals on a regular basis.

I have lived in Titusville for about 6 years this time, I was raised here in the 70s it was a nice town back then, I see alot of changes here most of the problems here are from people on one drug or another, to include RX drugs. It seems like no one cares any more they dont want to waste their time cleaning up the drug problem, The police know where the problems are but what I dont know is why they arent doing anything about it. And I wish they would put the crimes on the news... I never heard a thing about this, I go to wal-mart at all hours, most of the time here the streets are dead by 11 pm and you hardly see anyone out. Orlando is always in the news.
