Just curious. I realize Boulder is known for its college. Great. But my spouse and I are older with our college kids out of the house and we are relocating to Boulder for work and would like to know where can we find a place to rent so we don't bore our college friends:-) He'll be working off broadway so where do we go?? North, South, East, or West Boulder?? Thanks ahead of time!!

Mapleton Hill is very nice. Not very affordable, but definitely away from the college crowd.

There are lots of college students all over Boulder in the rentals. The farther you go from campus, the fewer students you'll find.

North Boulder (really anywhere north of DT Boulder) has the fewest students, but also tends to be more spendy (students tend to avoid high rent areas). So that depends on your budget. South Boulder is a bit less expensive, which does attract some students, but most of them prefer to live north of Table Mesa. So you might look there. You can't really escape students entirely anywhere in Boulder, though, except perhaps the far north of the city.

Gunbarrel/Heatherwood area has almost no students, but most Boulderites don't really consider that suburban style area part of Boulder (indeed most of the residential areas are just outside city limits), and connections to Boulder itself are a bit awkward , and it has limited services. Mostly IBM employees in that area. Still, if you want to be a bit removed from Boulder proper but still close, you might consider it. While you're considering that you might consider that parts of Louisville are almost as close to Boulder and Louisville has more services than Gunbarrel.
