Hi,

I am a 40 yrs old professional male. I am thinking about relocating to Boulder, and don't know many people there. I am super healthy, not a vegetarian but close, moderate politically, slightly left. I enjoy running/trail running, cycling, hiking and kayaking.

I am attracted like many to the combination of sunshine, great outdoors and small community.

A few questions:

- Will it be easy for me to meet people and fit in? I know Boulder is a college town, and supposedly everyone is friendly. But I am a bit older and single.

- Are there any outlying towns (e.g. Louisville) that are nice and would be a good place for a single guy.

- I tend to like modern loft/townhome kinds of living space, I have seen a few nice developments (pricy) in Boulder; Are there any in the surrounding towns? Any developments that you could recommend in Boulder or close to Boulder?

- Any suggestions on where to meet people? I know of things like meetup, etc. Are there outdoor clubs/groups?

Any help is appreciated.

Nick

Boulder is beautiful but, as far as social life, you'll probably find yourself driving to Denver to go out. The Boulder population is mostly college kids and middle-aged rich hippies/soccer moms with little in between. The towns near Boulder are basically like any suburbs, some nicer than others...again not too much going on for a single guy unless you like hanging out at Chili's or a mall. If you really like Boulder, it's not that far to drive to Denver to go out. As far as loft-type places, the few in Boulder are VERY pricey (probably at least 500K+) but they are everywhere in downtown Denver for half that price.

I doubt Louisville would be a good fit for you. We saw one area that might be a better fit - Holiday in North Boulder, which also has modern townhomes.

I'm 26 and love living in downtown Boulder. There are plenty of bars, some filled with college kids, some not. Louisville is suburban hell. I met plenty of other twenty somethings in Boulder and one is even now my girlfriend. Boulder attracts a lot of technology and sustainability firms so there are a lot of passionate young professionals around. And Denver is a short drive if you want big city nightlife.
