If I want to take the Green Line Subway into Boston to go to Symphony Hall, which station should I go to for the best chance to find parking? I'm coming from MetroWest.

I'll go to a Sunday concert and hope to leave my car close to the T station and take the T in.

Thanks.

This is a little bit of an issue because the Symphony Station is on the E branch of the Green Line, which does not run outside the city. Your best options probably are:

(1) take the commuter rail to Back Bay and then take the outbound E from Copley Square to the Symphony station (it's only 2 stops from Copley)

(2) take the D branch of the Green Line from one of the stations in Newton with parking. Get off at Hynes Convention Center and walk down Mass Av. about 10 mins. In a pinch you can take the No. 1 bus down Mass Av. to Symphony Hall, but it's probably faster to walk, especially on a Sunday.

The best Green Line stations in Newton for parking are Riverside and Woodland, the first two stops on the line.

For Riverside you'd take the Pike to Exit 14. After the tollbooths follow the signs for 95/128 South (on the right). Take the first exit, Exit 22, for Grove Street-M.B.T.A. Keep bearing right on the off ramp until you're on Grove Street. You'll go over the highway and see the Hotel Indigo on the left. Just past that is the Riverside T station. It has a huge parking lot. It's $5.75 a day to park.

For Woodland you'd also take the Pike to Exit 14 and follow the signs for 95/128 South. Take the 2nd exit, Exit 21, for Route 16 East (Waban/W. Newton). Go through the light at Beacon Street and you'll see Newton-Wellesley Hospital on the right. Make the 2nd right past that for Woodland Station. It seems like you're turning into a condo or townhouse complex; there's a covered parking garage for the T at the back of the condos.

If you take either of those stations, make sure you go back to Hynes station after the show and take only an outbound "D-Riverside" trolley back.

Thanks for info!! I'm currently debating whether to drive all the way into Boston, and try street parking along the South End (on Tremont, Columbus, etc.) or go with the T. It's always a gamble with street parking but Sunday is free and I believe the time limit doesn't apply.
