The issue between Amazon and Hachette is that Amazon wants a larger share of the revenue than what Hachette will agree to give them. I have no idea if the share they are demanding is reasonable or too much but regardless, it has nothing to do with the value to the customer.
Amazon's tactics to get what they want are not ethical, thus the bullying statement. They are making Hachette books harder to obtain and more expensive for their customers, in attempts to make Hachette realize they can't survive without Amazon and therefore agree to any terms. What would you call this if not bullying? They are delaying the shipment of Hachette books by weeks, claiming they have no/low stock of Hachette books, preventing the pre-ordering of Hachette books, and jacking up the prices of Hachette books - thus hurting Hachette's sales. Of course it also hurts Amazon's sales but I guess they feel they can live without Hachette sales, while Hachette can't live without Amazon's sales. I guess we'll see who breaks first.
