He was the master of dialogue and one of my favorite authors. Impressive volume of work. RIP.

Elmore was a master delineating certian types of characters (see below).

I did noticed the media showed his quip. No doubt good advice for aspiring scribblers..

"If it sounds like 'writing', I rewrite it"...

And,,

I haven't read Leonard before, but seeing a lot of love in the press after his death, so what's a good book for me to start off with?

I would recommend "52 Pick-Up", "Rum Punch" or "Killshot" as a good start to his work.
