Hi everyone,

this might be a bit difficult as I read this series 30 years ago more or less. It was lent to me by a friend of my mother who had read it as a young girl. So this series must have been written in the 50s more or less.

It was a series of about 3 or 4 books that followed the story of an upper middle class family from the north of the USA in the 40s and 50s. This family had a number of teenage children who grew up and eventually married and had children themselves. One of the main characters was a girl who fell in love with a boy called Ken who eventually went to Princeton university. Some of the boyfriends/fiances also went to the war. It was a bit like a modeen version of "Little Women"

Sorry for the lack of more details but many years have passed and as I had to return the books to the owner I've never seen them again.

The thing is that my daughter has yet again run out of books to read and she is of an age where she might enjoy that series.

I know this a quite a long shot with such few datails but who knows...

Thank you for your help

Have you checked with the public library information desk?

Also, a librarian in a jr. high or high school might know.

Hutch, for a second I thought you meant the Mary Wesley books, my favorite being The Camomile Lawn. But she was a Brit and the books took place in England.
Wish I could help you.
The Mary Wesley stuff might be a bit mature for your daughter, but maybe not.

Thank you for the suggestion but I am living in Spain and since the books are quite old I doubt they will be able to help me here.

But thank you anyway

To be honest I don't remember the author's nationality but the books definetely took place in the US.
I read them in Italy in Italian so they were good enough to have been translated. Also this person who lend them to me is in her late 60s and she read these books in her teens so they must have been written in the 50s

I think I 've found the title. From some description found in the net it looks like the series I was looking for is the Penny Parrish and Tippy Parrish series by Janet Lambert.

They were two sisters in a military family and the two series follow the two girls from teenage into adulthood. I will read a bit more on the web before deciding if it si worth buying it for my daughter.

Has any of you read the series?

I haven't read that series but am glad you found it. If you want to share your daughter's age range with us some of us might have some book suggestions for her. Of course, mine would be from the 70s or before.

Thank you Toosie.

My daughter will be 14 in a couple of months.
Many people here already gave me raccomandations before Christmas and I bought quite a few books as Xmas presents following their suggestions then.

I am always open to more ideas.
